Film #117 in MY YEAR OF MUBI

A quartet of stories set in a small Canadian town that all loosely connect. However, this is a DEPRESSING AS HELL film. It's good, but every single storyline is such a damn downer. That's fine... but just don't expect a single smile while watching this one.

Regardless of the somber tone of this movie, it's extremely well made. All of the actors give solid performances and are quite good (with the possible exception of Barry the cop, who is a little underwhelming with most of his line deliveries). The camerawork is beautiful as well, with some great shots scattered throughout.

It's a solid film with some great dramatic storytelling, but, again, it is really depressing overall.

Really enjoyed this film. It felt emotionally true. And it's filmed in Drumheller, AB. Canadian films rock!!
