I had never heard of Lance Letscher before seeing this documentary. Now he is one of my top 10 favorite working artists, due greatly to this well-made, intimate documentary. Highly recommended.

About as close to getting into the psyche of a brilliant, contemporary artist without finding some magical way to cut him open and scoop the interesting bits out for scrutiny. Kudos to the filmmaker, Sandra Adair, for earning Letscher’s (and his family’s) trust so we can see the artist and his work so intimately. So important for us to understand that art is usually not accidental, but takes years and years and years of training, an obsessive commitment to the pieces, and support from others around the artist... and even then, most artists do not get the recognition of a Lance Letscher.
