A luminously beautiful biopic of the celebrated eighteenth-century Italian poet, essayist and philosopher Giacomo Leopardi, who created immortal verse whilst struggling with a debilitating illness.

This movie could've been Elio Germano staring out the window for two and a half hours and I still would've loved every second of it.

What an incredibly intense film. If I weren't Italian, I would learn the language to watch it in its original version. The complex figure and production of Giacomo Leopardi, one of our greatest poets, are portrayed on screen with respect and accuracy. Elio Germano offers a flawless performance.
