Laggies

Overeducated and underemployed, 28 year old Megan is in the throes of a quarterlife crisis. Squarely into adulthood with no career prospects, no particular motivation to think about her future and no one to relate to, Megan is comfortable lagging a few steps behind - while her friends check off milestones and celebrate their new grown-up status. When her high-school sweetheart proposes, Megan panics and- given an unexpected opportunity to escape for a week - hides out in the home of her new friend, 16-year old Annika and Annika's world-weary single dad Craig.

"If you treat someone badly enough, you just assume they'll be happy to let you go."

Keira Knightley's American accent is one of the most entertaining things ever.

Is there any actress more adorable than Chloë Grace Moretz? This is a rhetorical question.

    Sam Rockwell is objectively great.

The chemistry between Moretz and Knightley is tremendous. Two of the best and most beautiful actresses in the world share the screen and it's wonderful.

Kaitlyn Dever, who was also terrific in Jason Reitman's woefully underrated Men, Women & Children, adds even more palpable charisma to the film.

It's a delightfully authentic film about relationships and growing as people that thoroughly warmed my heart.

These characters are so relatable and the performances are absolutely delightful.

It's beautifully shot and the writing here is excellent, but it's the performances that make Laggies something outstanding.
