An absolute delight of a film.

A surprisingly thoughtful film. The story and magic behind the gardens at Versailles was very interesting. This was also a moving film about a mother dealing with the death of her family. Kate Winslet's character was able to find a new life in her work and in the company of Le Notre.

A beautiful movie, albeit a terrible title.

Why I watched this one? The wife.....the wife.....the wife.....the wife....wanted to see this one.

What is this one about? Two talented landscape artists become romantically entangled while building a garden in King Louis XIV's palace at Versailles.

My thoughts on this one? Gotta admit...period pieces are not my favorite type of movie. Also gotta admit I like the late great Alan Rickman....who directed and starred in this one. So knowing this was one of the last new Rickman movies I will ever watch....I probably enjoyed this one more than I would normally enjoy a period piece.

Kate Winslet is very good in the lead role....while Matthias Schoenaerts seems very comfortable in this setting. Stanley Tucci and Rickman shine in supporting roles. There is a scene with Winslet and Rickman in a garden that is the highlight of the movie. Final thought: Worth checking out....RIP Alan Rickman!

Perhaps not a great film but was just really nice. Likely my propensity for gardening stories weighed highly in my rating but I'm okay with that!
