    Ninety nine red balloons

    Floating in the summer sky

    Panic bells, its red alert

There's something here from somewhere else

The war machine springs to life

Full review coming to talkfilmsociety.com tomorrow.

    - The crown for best one-take stairwell fight scene has been usurped from Daredevil (also, probably best action scene we'll get all year)

    - Thought that hose scene in the trailer was cool? You ain't seen nothin' yet.

    - More than just Lady Wick, but also every bit as awesome as Lady Wick via Charlize Theron sounds

    - COLORS (at least in certain scenes; it's never numbing)

    - Some cool characterization stuff going on with the B&W aesthetic clashing against the colors and her red coat later on - have to re-watch to mull it over

    - Bottom line: VERY good. Be excited. (I have some small problems with the writing, but nothing too major.)

    Ninety-nine red balloons

(Thanks to Atomic Blonde I now have this song stuck in my head).

But, despite Atomic Blonde's not insignificant plotting problems - way too many twists - the absolutely jaw-dropping action (I dare 2017 to give us something better than the stairwell fight) makes the film well worth the ticket price.

The more I think about Blonde, the less of a problem the plot is for me (though, generally, as I've noted in other reviews and my bio, plot is subordinate to visuals for me). The brilliance of the costume design and opulent neon visuals are some of the most stunning since The Neon Demon.

Big dumb fun is what you're getting. And, even though Wick 2 has a better plot and through-line, there's nothing in that movie that even approaches the two best action scenes in this film. So, set your expectations accordingly and prepare to have your mind blown.
